The other day, I picked up an interesting conversation with one of India’s best social media guru on a news post that went viral and shattered the brandwealth of a brand that almost every homosapien in our country had tasted & developed trust over years . I was curious to know from him as to what went so dramatically wrong that the trust developed over decades got shattered in milli seconds ? He smiled and replied , ” Brands cant be built over night, but can be destroyed over a single tweet”. And yes, he is proven right, Nestle India’s 2 Minute Noodle Brand – Maggi, lost its’ two decades of trust in less than 2 minutes. Needless to mention the several thousands of Crore rupees it lost and will lose to regain it’s market.
Few interesting numbers for you
Byte 1 : There are more than 1 million small or medium sized businesses advertising in Facebook and it is estimated that larger companies are spending as much as $100 million on Facebook advertising per year
Byte 3 :Today, Linkedin has over 332 million users and each second adds two new members, all of which attracts marketers
Byte 5 :There are now 3 billion users clocking social media and that half of the world is now using a mobile phone, with 185 million new unique users in the last twelve months
